All Saints Church, Wath upon Dearne

Home » All Saints Church, Wath upon Dearne

All Saints Church, Wath upon Dearne, has been here for over 1000 years as a sign and symbol of God’s love and welcome for all.

It is a welcoming community of Christians that regularly meets to worship Christ and to serve the surrounding area. People tend to feel at home here, so many stay once they’ve sampled the warmth and acceptance. Furthermore, the local population enthusiastically supports the church’s activities at festive times, including summer and Christmas fayres.

A long time ago, there would have been a cross, initially of wood, around which people gathered in the open air to hear a service. Parts of the Church building were erected in Anglo-Saxon times, and other parts were added through all the ages since.

The last restoration was of the roof bosses in 1976. The large stained-glass windows through which sunlight streams on bright days fill the ancient grey stone interior with colour.
