Quiet Day 4

Home » Articles » Quiet Day 4

The Parish of Wath with Brampton is pleased to announce our fourth quiet day event at Christ Church, Brampton Bierlow. Each event is a special time for silent prayer, meditation and reflection.

This is an opportunity for anyone, old or young, experienced or novice, to come along and spend some time away from the busy world and its concerns. We hope you will join us, find refreshment in simple contemplation, and become more open to receiving God’s word.

We aim to attune ourselves to the still, quiet voice and take this with us going forward, helping us be grounded in the knowledge of His Grace and Love.

Surrender

Some people believe they are supposed to be a “good person” and follow rules and religious practices. However, the Holy Bible tells us that we are saved by faith, not works. (Ephesians 2:8)

Although it is also stated that faith without works (good deeds) is useless (James 2:26), one has to sacrifice earthly things to be ready to accept what God has to offer. This is perhaps the meaning of surrender.

“Let him deny himself and take up his cross.”

Matt. 16:24

The act of surrender seems hard, considering all we are taught in school. However, here’s a chance to learn more about something that can allow God’s power to come through.

Address:

View map and directions.

If you can attend, please try to be here just before 10 a.m. to give yourself time to park. It’s a good idea to arrive early so you don’t miss the check-in and introduction.

We aim to finish by 2 p.m. However, since attendance is flexible, please don’t feel compelled to stay until the end.

We will be serving complimentary hot drinks and biscuits, but it’s a good idea to bring a packed lunch if you intend to stay until 2 pm.

The morning activities will include prayer stations; in the afternoon, there will be a time of stillness and silent prayer.
